Holiday Cards / Three Holiday Wishes

Are you planning to make seasonal cards for friends and relatives this year? Eight pages in the current issue provide an assortment of beautifully stamped cards that can help get your seasonal stamping mojo in gear.

Several of the cards were inspired by a specific holiday image, while others found inspiration elsewhere. Stamper Valorie Wolf of Fair Play (the town’s real name!), North Carolina, has often found a sentiment can drive her artwork.

“When you know what you want to say, it becomes easier to illustrate. Often I will type a sentiment into a document using a variety of fonts to fit my design. I collect sayings and have pages and pages of interesting phrases and thoughts I hope to one day translate into cards.”

Wishing You a Gentle Season, her contribution to the Holiday Cards theme, was colored with Copic markers—a favorite medium. Along the way, she has learned less is more with this product. For example, check out the boy’s hat and the rest of the children’s clothing and mittens. Valorie left white spaces on each of them, which adds depth and make the scene more realistic.
