Reinker / Big Skies Revisited

The Reinker column in the Holidays issue follows up on tips shared in the Fall issue about creating beautiful skies. This time stamper Genie Siegel’s piece encourages us to think about autumn and the beauty that comes with bare trees and dark skies.

It was an “easy ink application method” that enabled her to add those rich colors to the scene. These are her coloring steps: 1) Place a folded paper towel on a well-inked stamp pad and pick up ink. Or drop ink directly on a paper towel. 2) Swipe the folded towel across the paper, starting at the outer edge. 3) With a light, brushing motion layer colors, applying the lightest color first.

Genie usually blend three or four colors in a sky. Occasionally she adds more color by applying ink directly with a stipple brush.
