When you picture the desert, you’re probably seeing yellows and oranges, maybe some blue to account for the large open sky. But looking at the stamp art in the Desert Album, we see that the desert is much more colorful than that, as Lynette Etzel’s artwork points out.
Three cowboys are sitting around an open campfire. One has a cup of coffee in his hand. Another is ready to share a song. Lynette’s first step creating this scene was to lay out all the cowboy and cacti images. She masked some, where needed, then added the sun and mountains in the background. Her three cowboys aren’t alone in the desert. Check out the sleeping canine, perched bird, and meandering armadillo.
