Themes for RSM's next issue, Fall 2009, are Rubber Earth, Halloween and TV Image Challenge. Many thanks and a tip of the zebra's tail to Dee Richardson of Ancaster, Ontario for sharing this peaceful African scene with us, a perfect picture of Rubber Earth.

See the information below on how to submit artwork for future themes.

Themes & Deadlines

Ready for some myth and magic? Our first theme for Holidays 2009 will be Dragons and Unicorns. Round up your favorite mythical beasties and make a scene for RSM. The second theme for that issue will be Angel Collage. Any art with angelic content will be blessed by our editorial staff. Deadline for both themes: June 20, 2009.

Looking further ahead, the first theme for our Spring 2010 issue will be Mail Art. Artwork on any theme can be stamped on an envelope or postcard and sent through the mail. Remember, the art is on the outside of the envelope and should be visible to our friends at the post office. (If you want your mail art returned, please include 61 cents postage inside the envelope, along with stamp credits.) The second theme for that issue will be Asian. China, Japan, you know . . . the wonders of the East. Deadline for both themes: September 20, 2009.

Please remember to include your name, address, and stamp credits on the back of each submission. Note also: We need to receive your artwork on or before the deadline; if it comes in later, it may not be considered for publication. Note also that cover artists receive $200.

General Guidelines

All submissions should have some rubber stamp imagery. With each submission, please list stamp credits. Instructions are not needed with the submission.
Always include your name, postal address, telephone number or e-mail address and stamp credits on the back of each submission. Submissions can be original artwork, slides, photographs, color photocopies or color prints.
We welcome artwork on issue themes. There are generally two themes per issue. (See below for specific information on theme submissions.)
We also welcome artwork not on a specific theme. These pieces can appear in the various columns within each issue. Also, when theme artwork isn't returned right away, that means we're considering it for a future issue, either a second centerfold or for one of the columns.

Theme Art
We prefer submissions no larger than 5 inches by 6-1/2 inches in size. All submissions are subject to reduction. Theme artwork can include highly dimensional art or 3-D pieces.
Submit up to four entries per theme. Artwork is returned when accompanied by an SASE. If submitting for more than one theme, please include an SASE for each theme-this helps us keep track of everything. Always include your name, postal address, telephone number or e-mail address and stamp credits on the back of all your artwork.

Cover Art - Cover artists receive $200. Cover submissions can be:
       1) 8-5/8 inches wide by 11-1/4 inches high. This size assumes the artwork fills the whole cover. About 1/4 inch will be trimmed off each edge. Please leave a blank space somewhere for information about what's inside the issue. Also, try not to put any of your favorite images in one of the bottom corners of the cover, where a store pricing symbol will be placed.
       2) 8-5/8 inches wide by 10-1/2 inches high. This size fills the cover except for a 3/4 inch strip across the top for information about what's inside the issue. About 1/4 inch will be trimmed from each edge. Again, try not to put any cool images in one of the bottom corners, where the store pricing symbol will be placed. (Remember that about 1.5 inches of the page will be overlaid with our logo.)
